PacSecの"Sec"は"Security"で、"Pac"は"Pacific"です。PacSecの姉妹イベントとして、CanSecWest (Canada), EuSecWest (Europe)があります。

このPacSecセキュリティーカンファレンスでは、諸外国及び日本の専門家達同士が集まり、日本の最先端の技術に触れ合いながら互いにコンピュータセキュリティに関する問題や有効な解決策等の情報の交換の場を提供することを目的としています。優れたな技術者同士がリラックスした環境で交流できるよう、様々な資料やプレゼンテーションは英語と日本語の両方で準備されます。 （PacSec HPより）
